On December 14, the GCA Beginner, Intermediate, and Technical Theatre classes presented My Fair Limey. From Pioneer Drama Service:
"It’s My Fair Lady meets the Old West in this fantastically clever spin-off of the Shaw classic. Barclay Mellonford has relocated from the well-spoken land of manners and decorum — or more precisely, England — to Wildcat Crossing, a lil’ old town in the West. He just has one problem: no one can understand a word he says. But Dixie Kline, a spunky, tough-talking cowgirl, thinks she can learn him how to talk like real folk, and she’s willing to put her money where her big mouth is. She makes a bet with Amos Dabbs that she’ll have Barclay twangin’ like the rest of the ranchers when he gives a speech at the upcoming Grange meeting in one month. As Barclay does his best to fit in, a slew of womenfolk visit him at Birdie’s Saloon to try and catch his eye. There’s the refined school teacher, the flirtatious Sally and the Greensboro sisters, who are prone to giggling. Storm clouds are a-brewin’, however, whenever Calhoun Bick rolls into the saloon looking for trouble. With a surprise ending that’ll leave you pleased as punch, this new spin on an old yarn is sure to be your cup of tea!" |
